According to the requirements of the Ministry of Education on the trial work of the “1+X” Vocational Skill Level Certificate Examination and the unified deployment of the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Examination Evaluation Station, from December 25th to 26th, ZJSRU started the exams of “1+X” vocational skill certificate on the elderly care as the trail testing center. A total of 104 students majoring in elderly services and management took the exam.
The examination was divided into two parts: theory and practical operation. The theoretical examination was in the form of a computer-based testing. The contents of the examination were mainly about the diet, cleaning, warming and cooling therapy, sleep, excretion and other care of the elderly and common rescue operation. In the practical operation, the care needs of different elderly people were presented in the form of practical cases. Students were required to complete the preparations within 15 minutes and complete 3 care operations on the models and simulated elderly people within 30 minutes.
“If the graduates from the major of the elderly care pass the 1+X exam and have the ‘dual certificates’, which are the academic certificate and vocational skill level certificate, they will have more advantages when looking for jobs. With the development of the aging society, there is a huge shortage of the talents majoring in the elderly care.” Zhang Ying, an evaluation teacher from Hangzhou Zaishui Yifang Elderly Care Service Group, also hoped that students could take the 1+X exam as an opportunity to lay a solid foundation for future career selection and employment.
During the examination, Vice President Chen Xinmin, Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Affairs Jin Jianchang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shulan International Medical College Chen Chaoxiang, and Assistant Dean of Modern Service Research Institute Wang Qunlong, conducted inspection tours for supervision for many times, coordinated exam-related matters, inquired about candidates’ preparation status, encouraged students to take the exam seriously, checked the exam strictly, and affirmed the efforts of the teachers made for the training and this examination.
