Ecological Engineering of Environment

Ecological engineering of environment is a new sunrise major. At present,the ecological construction and environmental protection have become a broad consensus of all countries in the world, and our country is paying more and more attention to it. The development of this major has broad prospects. This major is dedicated to cultivating the high-quality applied engineering and technical talents with basic knowledge in ecology, environmental science and engineering design, and basic theoretical knowledge and skills in ecological environment quality monitoring, urban ecological planning and management, ecological engineering design, environmental pollution and ecological restoration.Such talents own macroscopic operation capability and can alsobe engaged in engineering design, technology development, and scientific research in related fields.

Employment prospects: After graduation,students can work in environmental protection, municipal gardens, urban construction planning and other administrative departments;in sewage treatment plants, solid waste treatment plants and other public utilities;in ecological and environmental protection research institutes, environmental protection, municipal and other professional design institutes and planning and designin stitutes;in environmental consulting companies and construction engineering companies,for environmental ecology research, ecological restoration and construction, ecological planning and design.

Environmental Engineering

(The first-class undergraduate major, key major and newly emerging characteristic major in Zhejiang Province)

As the key discipline, a first-class discipline in Zhejiang Province during the 13th Five-Year Plan, a newly emerging characteristic major and a provincial key major, this major has strong teaching staff, advanced and complete experimental equipment, and rich engineering training bases. Its aims are to cultivate senior applied talents with "excellent engineer" quality in the field of environmental science and engineering, enable students to have a solid natural science foundation, strong analysis, calculation and design capabilities for environmental engineering problems, as well as strong innovation capabilities. This major emphasizes practical teaching and cooperation education based on the "school-enterprise alliance" and "industry college", constructing a four-year university integrated practical teaching system throughout four years’study in university to enhance students' engineering practice ability.

Employment prospects: After graduation,studentscan engage in planning, design, construction and operation management of ecological industry and ecological town construction in government departments, environmental protection agencies, environmental protection constructionorganizations, sightseeing agriculture, tourism services, scientific research consulting organizations,and in the development of environmental protection equipment andgreen products, as well as environmental monitoring and evaluation and environmental pollution control. Especially under the background of our country's long-term policy of strengthening environmental governance and Zhejiang'spolicy of"five rivers governance", students' employment and entrepreneurship will have broad prospects.

Applied Chemistry

The applied chemistry is a university-level key major. It is committed to cultivating senior application-oriented talents whom own a wide range of knowledge and strong hands-on ability accept basic training in analysis and testing, chemical green synthesis and efficient separation, and can be engaged in product synthesis, analysis and testing in related fields such as medicine, chemical industry, and environmental protection. This major requires students to master the basic knowledge of modern chemistry and chemical engineering, engineering technology and experimental skills, fully grasp the large-scale instrument testing technology, and have a certain knowledge of management, economics, information science and law; have a strong ability of foreign language and computer skills. This major includes three training directions: analytical testing, green pharmacy and cosmetics. At the same time, the School carries out a variety of discipline competitions to cultivate students' practical ability, engineering ability and innovation ability.

Employment prospects: After graduation,students areable to engage in product quality control, green chemical development, food quality and safety, environmental pollution monitoring and production technologyand management in various industries such as chemical industry, medicine, cosmetics, food, electricity, hygiene, environmental protection, commodity inspection, quality supervision.

Bioengineering

This major is based on the provincial economic and industrial advantages such as the biological engineering and new pharmaceutical high-tech industrial base in Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou "Bio New Pharmaceutical Port", and the National Biological Industry Base around Hangzhou Bay, and cultivates the senior application-oriented talents mastering modern biotechnology and its industrialization-related theories and technologies and having strong adaptability, practical ability, innovation ability and entrepreneurial ability. This major includes two training directions: biopharmaceutical engineering and industrial microbial engineering. Students are required to master the basic knowledge and operating techniques of chemistry, biology, and engineering, as well as certain knowledge of management, economics, information science and law, and foreign language and computer application skills.

Employment prospects: After graduation, students can work in the research and development, design, management and marketing of the products, technology and equipment in high-tech companies in biomedicine, biochemical, light industry, food, energy, environmental protection and other industries, or in environmental protection and commodity inspection , drug inspection, customs, industry and commerce, taxation and government management departments for related inspection or supervision and management.

Food Science and Engineering

Food science and engineering is auniversity-level key major. Thismajor is setto study food nutrition and health, process design and product production, food processing and storage, and food hygiene and safety on the basis of food science and engineering. It is an important component of life science and engineering science, andan important bridge connecting food science and industrial engineering. The aim of this major is to cultivate professionals with knowledge of food chemistry and nutrition, food production and research and development, food engineering and high and new technology of food.Through characteristic curriculum design of this major, the students are trained to master food production, research and development and management skills; their employment competitiveness will be enhanced through the training of experimental skills and practical ability; through colorful and diverse scientific and technological competitions, the students are led to improve their professionalism. This major has the analysis and testing technology training base of the large-scale instrument and equipment collaboration platform in Zhejiang Province, the laboratories of food safety production process analysis and control and food quality and safety, and other university-level key laboratories, as well as food production and research and development pilot plants and other professional experimental sites.

Employment prospects: After graduation, the students can work in the field of food production and related companies for food process design, new product development, production process control and management, quality management and inspection of raw materials and finished products of food, product planning, quality management and system certification, and the third-party certification, nutrition guidance, food marketing and scientific research.

Food Quality and Safety

This is a popular major established in accordance with the current demand for food safety talents. It is closely related to public nutrition and health, and is an applied major based on a composite inter-discipline of food science, instrument analysis, food microbiology, food safety, and food quality management. The aim is to cultivate advanced application-oriented technical personnel with professional knowledge in food science, biology, food toxicology, nutrition and hygiene, food quality management, and food quality and safety control, analysis and testing technology, and food safety management system. The curriculum is closely integrated with the current status and hot topics of food safety, highlighting the regional economic characteristics.
