In 1984, Zhejiang Shuren University was established with the approval of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province.

In 1993, Zhejiang Shuren University became one of the first batch of full-time private universities recognized by our country, based on the assessment by National College Establishment Appraisal Committee of State Education Commission of the PRC.

In 1994, the university held the 10th Anniversary of its establishment.

In 2000, with the approval of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the original Zhejiang Shuren University, Zhejiang School of Electronics Industry, Zhejiang School of Foreign Economic Trade and Zhejiang School of Light Industry were integrated to establish the new Zhejiang Shuren University.

In 2001, Zhejiang School of Geological Engineering Investigation was merged into Zhejiang Shuren University.

In 2003, the university was upgraded to an undergraduate university based on the assessment by National College Establishment Appraisal Committee of State Education Commission of the PRC.

In 2004, the university held the 20th Anniversary of its establishment.

In 2007, the university passed the assessment on Bachelor’s degree issuing privilege by Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education.

In 2011, the university passed the assessment of the newly established university by Ministry of Education.

In 2014, the university was approved to establish the other campus by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province; the university held the 30th Anniversary of it’s establishment.

In 2016, the Yangxunqiao Campus in Shaoxing was launched.
