As one of the earliest schools of Zhejiang Shuren University, Schoolof Urban Construction has 5 bachelor’s degree programs, i.e., Town and Country Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Transportation, with more than 1600 students. The School has the Personnel Training Mode Innovative Experimental Area of Steel Structure Base and the “steel structure green building”-based architectural design personnel training mode innovative experimental area, and has established the first institute of steel structure industry in Zhejiang. The Civil Engineering Specialty has been approved as the featured specialty of the “13thfive-year-plan” of Zhejiang and the top bachelor’s degree program in Zhejiang. The Civil Engineering Specialty has been awarded as a top specialty of “the 13thfive-year plan” of Zhejiang (B). The course ofMechanics of Materialshas been awarded as the first batch of national top undergraduate course. Three specialized courses such asCAD Drafterhave been awarded as top undergraduate courses in Zhejiang.
With the purpose of moral composition and education, the school pays attention to industry development and social demands, to strengthen practical teaching with the objective of cultivation of applied personnel. The school was the first to operate the Steel Structure Field in the whole province in 2008, to form the “government-university-guild-enterprise” applied talent cultivation mode with in-depth cooperation integrated with guild, leading enterprises and colleges and universities. The schoolestablished the firstSteel Structure Industry School in the whole province in 2020, to effectively improve the employment competitiveness of students, and the talents graduated from the institute are especially popular in enterprises.
The school lays emphasis on cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial abilities of students and promotes education and study with contests. The school organizes students to participate in high-level discipline contests. The school was awarded with the first prize of National Contest of Structural Design of Undergraduates in 2019 and 2020. The specialties of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning and Landscape Architecture were awarded with various types of prizes in national and provincial discipline contests repeatedly.
The school promotes construction of specialties, and has awarded with a series of symbolic achievements such as the second prize of provincial teaching achievements, the provincial teaching team and the provincial experimental teaching demonstration center. The school has one national top course, four provincial top courses and multiple Industry-academy Cooperation Education Projects by the Higher Education Division of Ministry of Education, provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching projects, provincial education reform projects and provincial new-shape teaching materials, with favorable teaching ecology and a batch of advanced teachers of dedication.
