From August 19 to 23, 2019, the 20th ARAHE Biennial International Congress 2019 was held in Hangzhou. The Congress was sponsored by the Asian Regional Association for Home Economics and co-organized by Zhejiang Shuren University and Zhejiang Home Economics Education Union. TheAsian Regional Association for Home Economicsis a non-profit organizationsubordinate tothe International Federation for Home Economics, and holds an academic seminar every two years. This is the first time that it has been held in mainland China.

With the theme of "TheAging and the Development of Home Economics Industry: For the Aspirations of the People to Live a Better Life",thecongressset a total of 11sub-topics. Nearly 300 experts, scholars, and business representativesin the field ofhome economics from 10 Asian countries and regions,including China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand,attended thecongress. At the closing ceremony, Professor Xu Xuqing of Zhejiang Shuren University was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Asian Regional Association for Home Economics, becoming the only member of the Executive Committee elected in Mainland China since the establishment of the Association 36 years ago.
