Wu Yan, director of Higher Education Division of Ministry of Education, investigated in Shulan Hangzhou Hospital affiliated to Shulan International Medical College in our university in the afternoon of June 26, 2019. Chen Genfang, secretary of the Party committee of Zhejiang Ministry of Education and the director-general, Yu Yongming, deputy director-general, Jiang He, office director of Higher Education Division, Yang Qiubo, deputy director-general of Science and Engineering Department of Higher Education Division, Lv Hua, director-general of Higher Education Department of Zhejiang Ministry of Education, Xu Xuqing, president of the university, Zhang Qing, secretary of the Party committee of the university, Ye Shiping, vice-president, Academician Zheng Shusen, dean of Shulan International Medical College, Academician Li Lanjuan, the launcher of Medical Medicine, and Ye Zaiyuan, president of Shulan Hangzhou Hospital, accompanied with the investigation and survey.

With the guide and introduction by Academician Zheng Shusen and Academician Li Lanjuan, Wu Yan visited the medical space (demonstration classroom and study room), the infectious disease center (clinical teaching center), and the liver, gall and pancreas surgery center (surgery demonstration classroom) of Shulan Hangzhou Hospital affiliated to Shulan International Medical College. He highly praised and affirmed the humanistic management, the international horizon, the high-end medical and nursing talents and the advanced facilities. Especially, after seeing the letters of thanks and the silk banners hung on walls of corridors from patients, he was moved, and said: “After visiting the hospital, we have reasons to believe that the Clinical Medicine Science will be developed with a splendid prospect”.

After the visit, Wu Yan held a forum in a meeting room of Shulan Hangzhou Hospital, to listen to the construction conditions of Shulan International Medical College. Academician Zheng Shusen and Academician Li Lanjuan proposed plans on future construction of the medical college on aspects of organization construction, teaching team construction, cultivation mode and course reforms, construction of modern experiment demonstration center and laboratory and high-level scientific research cooperation, with abundant expectations and confidence in future of Shulan International Medical College.

Then Wu Yan gave a speech. He said, “A quality reform is needed for medical education in China, because medicine is a bridge between higher education and Health China. The approval of Clinical Medicine Specialty of Zhejiang Shuren University is a very important affair for Zhejiang Shuren University and Shulan International Medical College, and a big day for medical education in China. It is a milestone event, a pioneering work for medical education.” According to Wu Yan, “I’ve visited a lot of hospitals all over the world, and have been familiar with medical education. However, the two visits to Shulan Hospital made me moved and passionate. In my opinion, it is a hospital full of love that can raise dead. It is a hospital that can be ranked the top in global medicine. It will be a benchmarking hospital in reform and development in China medicine in the future.” According to Wu Yan, “A high-standard medical college is needed for sustainable development of a hospital; a high-level hospital is also important for clinical medical research. For this reason, Zhejiang Shuren University and Shulan Hospital are dependent with each other. They are conjoined twin babies that cannot be separated apart.” Wu Yan wished that “Zhejiang Shuren University and Shulan Hospital will work together to explore a new way for the new medical specialty education reform!”
