On June 21, the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Zhejiang Provincial Teaching Steering Committee of Chinese Language in Higher Education and the Academic Symposium on “International Chinese Education in the New Era” were successfully held at Zhejiang Shuren University. The meeting gathered over 60 distinguished experts and scholars in Hangzhou, including the Chair of the Chinese Language Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, members of the subject consultative group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Changjiang Scholars, the Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Teaching Steering Committee of Chinese Language in Higher Education, as well as deans and university leaders from various colleges across Zhejiang Province. Attendees discussed key issues such as how to achieve high-quality and innovative development of international Chinese education in the new era through enhancing disciplinary foundations, integrating industry-education-research, and promoting international exchange and cooperation. The meeting was hosted by the Zhejiang Provincial Teaching Steering Committee of Higher Education and organized by the School of Humanities and Foreign Languages of Zhejiang Shuren University. Leaders from the Office of Administration, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Academic Research, the Office of Discipline Development, and the School of Humanities and Foreign Languages of the university attended the meeting. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Chen Xinmin, Vice President of the university.

The Department of Chinese Language within the School of Humanities and Foreign Languages, which offers the program of International Chinese Education, upholds the university’s mission of “fostering virtue and nurturing talents” and follows a practice-oriented and international development strategy. The department is dedicated to developing a new liberal arts model characterized by “Language Plus” interdisciplinary integration. It actively explores interdisciplinary cooperation, digital empowerment, and international outreach. In recent years, it has achieved notable progress in fields such as provincial-level first-class course development, regional and country studies, the creation of “new liberal arts” textbooks with distinctive features, and international communication and cultural exchange.
