In September 2019, the Royal Society of Chemistry released the 2018 "Top 1% highly cited Chinese authors" list, and Shen Chao, a professor at the School of Biologyand Environmental Engineering, Zhejiang Shuren University, was selected to the "Top 1% highly cited Chinese authors" list in the field of Organic & Medicinal.

It is reported that the Royal Society of Chemistry makes statistics on the citations of papers published on more than 40 journals each year, filters the list of the top 1% cited papers published in the previous two years in the current year, and collates the list of authors whose first unit is a Chinese institution, so as to highlight the outstanding contribution of Chinese authors to the field of international chemical research.

Shen Chao has been on the list for two consecutive years.
