The competition was held on August 27, 2019 at Zhejiang Shuren University. Zhang Qing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, attended the opening and closing ceremonies as a guest and presented awards to the award-winning contestants.
Akihito Yoshibashi, Vice Governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, led a 43-member table tennis delegation to Hangzhou to compete with 48 players from Zhejiang Province.
The competition was divided into three groups: High school group, junior high school group and primary school group. There were two events: Men's singles and women's singles.
The competition, which began on the 30th anniversary of the tie-up between Zhejiang Province and Shizuoka Prefecture in 2012, aims to promote friendly exchanges between China and Japan through "ping-pong diplomacy".
