Recently, the National Management Office of the College Volunteers to the West Program released the Public Announcement of the List of Outstanding Volunteers for the 2024-2025 College Volunteers to the West Program Through Assessment, in which four volunteers from our university, i.e. Pan Zhenchao, Yang Zheqian, Fang Kehao, and Zhang Yueyue, successfully passed the publicity period and were recognized as national “Outstanding Volunteers”.

In recent years, under the careful guidance of the Party Committee of our university, strong support from functional departments, and active collaboration of schools and colleges, our university has steadily advanced the College Volunteers to the West Program. A closed-loop work system has been established, featuring a complete cycle of “public opinion guidance→open selection→consultation→targeted training→follow-up support →post-service sharing”. This system has promoted a strong ethos across the campus, particularly among graduating students, echoing the call of “going to the West, to the grassroots community, and to where the motherland and people need us most” to make achievements and establish careers. This year, 19 fresh graduates from our university were successfully admitted by the Provincial Program Office, maintaining a year-on-year increase in volunteer enrollment and consistently remaining our university among the top ten universities in Zhejiang for years. Throughout this meaningful journey of serving the western regions, our university has cultivated numerous outstanding role models. These include national “Outstanding Volunteers”, such as Dai Qing, Ying Yulu, Shen Zhiyi, Pan Zhenchao, Yang Zheqian, Fang Kehao, and Zhang Yueyue; Jiang Songyang, recipient of the “National Outstanding Award for Grassroots Employment”; and Meng Jinde, honored as an “Outstanding Volunteer” by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. They are not only a source of pride for the university but also interpreters, advocates, and practitioners of the “Shuren Spirit”.
