Good News | Our Students Win 2 Silver and 5 Bronze Medals in the Provincial “Challenge Cup” Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition for University Students

From May 16 to 18, the finals of the 19th “Challenge Cup” Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition for University Students—jointly organized by the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, the Zhejiang Academy of Social Sciences, the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, and the Students’ Federation of Zhejiang Province—were successfully concluded at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University. Our university's entries won 2 silver awards and 5 bronze awards.

Entrepreneurship is the main theme of the times, and youth are the driving force behind it. The “Challenge Cup” competition series, having developed over the past three decades, is hailed as the “Olympics” of scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship for university students. It is recognized as one of the most representative, authoritative, exemplary, and trend-setting student competitions in China. Since the launch of the competition, a total of 2,057 entries from 103 universities across the province were submitted for the provincial preliminary round of the main track. Among them, 412 entries from 71 universities advanced to the finals, including two from our university.

In the provincial finals, the two silver-award-winning projects were: Antibacterial “Rising Star”—Target Research and Application Exploration Based on NAD⁺ Metabolism, submitted by Shulan International Medical College/Chongde College (Team Leader: Chen Yu; Instructors: Wang Qingjing, Lu Anwei, Du Lailing), Resolving the Worries of “Graphene”—Addressing the Transfer and Accumulation of Graphene-Induced Antibiotic Resistance Genes from Hosts to Crops, submitted by the School of Biology and Environmental Engineering/Interdisciplinary Research Academy/Chongde College (Team Leader: Zhang Siyu; Instructors: Wu Ran, Zhu Yaxin, Du Shaoting).
