East-West Cooperation for Common Prosperity--The Opening Ceremony of Program “Art Innovative Design Talent Training of Miao Embroidery” funded by China National Arts Fund Held

    On the afternoon of June 16, 2023, the opening ceremony for the program “Art Innovative Design Talent Training of Miao Embroidery” funded by China National Arts Fund in 2023 was held grandly in the Academic Lecture Hall (on the Hangzhou Campus) of Zhejiang Shuren University.

   The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Zhao Yan, Dean of the School of Art of Zhejiang Shuren University. The leaders attending the opening ceremony included Li Lu, President of Zhejiang Shuren University, Chen Jifen, Director of the Art Division of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Tao Yin, Yu Zhiyin and Chen Zhengda, Supervisory Experts of China National Arts Fund, Liu Rui, Director of the Service Office of Cultural and Creative Industry on Silver Ornaments and Embroidery of the Publicity Department of Kaili Municipal Party Committee, Prof. Li Yupu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the School of Handicraft Art of China Academy of Art, and Xu Weijun, President of Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Industry Association.

     Professor Li Lu, President of Zhejiang Shuren University, made a warm welcome speech. He reviewed the development history of Zhejiang Shuren University since its founding in 1984. And he pointed out, the program “Art Innovative Design Talent Training of Miao Embroidery” was the in-depth implementation of the theme spirit of “inheriting and developing traditional national culture, including Miao embroidery, well” emphasized by the General Secretary Xi Jinping during his research in Guizhou. This program is also a concrete action to make new contributions to the inheritance and innovation of Miao embroidery art and gather new forces in design services, and to integrate art into rural revitalization, assist common prosperity through design, and inherit and promote Chinese culture.

Chen Jifen, Director of the Art Division of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, highly affirmed the program “Art Innovative Design Talent Training of Miao Embroidery” hosted by Zhejiang Shuren University in her speech. Xu Weijun, President of Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Industry Association, praised this program from the perspective of embroidery industry development. Liu Rui, Director of the Service Office of Cultural and Creative Industry on Silver Ornaments and Embroidery of the Publicity Department of Kaili Municipal Party Committee, expressed the support and gratitude of Kaili Municipal Party Committee of Guizhou for the program “Art Innovative Design Talent Training of Miao Embroidery”.

Prof. Li Yupu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the School of Handicraft Art of China Academy of Art, talked about the profound friendship between the School of Arts of Zhejiang Shuren University and China Academy of Art. He firmly believed that this program, being staffed by such a strong faculty with an international vision, would surely bring new vitality to the ancient traditional skill of Miao embroidery. He hoped that participants in the training could uphold the “Artisan Spirit”, gain more from learning, think deeply while learning, and make handicrafts with the craftsman’s spirit.
