▲Professor Xie Maotang, a teacher of Reel Environmental Light College, presided over the lecture.
▲Dr. Hongyi Mou lectures on the concept of integration of city and light.
▲Dr. Mou Hongyi with the students and teachers of the Light Environment Intensive Training Course.
In this lecture, Dr. Mou Hongyi inspired students through four sections: New Regionalism; Spirit of Place; Coexistence and Co-growth and Core Values, with the intention of inspiring students. Dr. Mou Hongyi cited various practical projects, including: The charming and elegant lighting design of Beijing’s Guozijian Street, the light and shadow presentation at Donghuamen, the construction of Jimei’s multi-dimensional and intelligent lighting environment, the lighting design of Peitian’s ancient courtyard that minimises the disturbance to the most beautiful countryside, The Belt and Road, The transformation of Baiqi Lake City Park in The Taiwanese Business district, etc.
Dr. Mou pointed out how technology combined with art, obtain a truly professional expression of light environment and cultural soft power. Furthermore, utilising basic research in science, culture, art, materials, light, modelling and other elements of different disciplines, will create an improved economic model based on scientific research results, forming a complete cultural industrial chain. The core value of lighting is the "new heritage value" of the city's cultural light. "Creating history, pursuing art" and "the container of civilisation" are directions established by every city in planning, design and construction.
A large number of practical examples allowed the students to broaden their horizons; improve their abilities to professionally analyse and develop their perspectives on light environment; and ultimately understand the coexistence and co-growth between cities, history and light environment.
