On the afternoon of December 14th, 2016, the lacquer painting exhibition of Associate Professor Lian Xuyun of the School of Artwas grandly exhibited in Zhejiang Art Museum. The exhibition was sponsored by Zhejiang Artists Association and Zhejiang Shuren University, and organized bythe School of Art ofZhejiang Shuren University and Zhejiang Lacquer Painting Research Association.

This is a dialogue spanning time and space between traditional lacquer art and modern expression, and it is also an artist's retrospection and examination of her own creation process. The exhibition exhibited nearly 60 works by Lian Xuyun in the past 16 years, including 41 lacquer paintings and 17 pieces (groups) of lacquerware. As a female painter, Lian Xuyun focuses on the beauty of life with lacquer painting language through close personal observation, and creates special exquisiteness.

China is the first country in the world to use lacquer. The red-painted wooden bowl found more than 7,000 years ago at Hemudu Cultural Relic in Zhejiang recorded the production of manual lacquer in the early days of mankind. In the long history, lacquer art has been developing and innovated continuously, and has gradually become an independent art. Traditional lacquer art is complicated, with silver foil and raw lacquer being important materials. Lacquer paintings are colorful, and Lian Xuyun expresses her emotions through silver color. The silver foil, silver crumbs and silver powder scattered in the picture are sometimes bright, sometimes flashing, sometimes hidden, sometimes crystal clear and mild, bringing an elegant and clear "silver wave".

After the opening ceremony, a live seminar on Lian Xuyun's lacquer paintings was held. More than a dozen experts and scholars from all over the country discussed lacquer painting art together to further promote lacquer painting culture.
