It was reported that The Complete Collection of Diaries of Xia Chengtao is a compilation of the existing diaries of Xia Chengtao, a famous Ci-poet in modern times, including his diaries for nearly 70 years from 1916 to 1985. Xia Chengtao (1900-1986) devoted his life to the research and teaching of Ci-poetry studies, and was known as the "Grand Master of Ci-Poetry". A series of his classic works are the outstanding cultural and academic achievements of the 20th century. Zhejiang Ancient Books Publishing House once published The Diaries of Learning Ci-Poetry at Tianfengge Library, which was "a masterpiece of diary literature". However, The Diaries of Learning Ci-Poetry at Tianfengge Library was an expurgated edition, many of the contents and notes were omitted, and the diaries that Xia chengtao written at his early and late years were especially absent. After sorting out Xia Chengtao's diaries this time and searching sources from many parties, all the existing diaries of Mr. Xia Chengtao that people could find have been included in this new book. Compared with The Diaries of Learning Ci-Poetry at Tianfengge Library, The Complete Collection of Diaries of Xia Chengtao complemented the contents deleted in the former. This book is new as it shows the characteristics of being “all complete”. It retains the original contents of Xia Chengtao's diaries, reflects all aspects of society, personal life, reading and writing, making friends, sightseeing, and teaching and educating people, and is a super excellent book with multiple thinking perspectives for studying the inner mind changes of intellectuals and the development course of academic research in the 20th century, and the cultural content of this book has been also increased greatly, which is of great historical value.
