From January 5 to 8, a study tour delegation from Dongguk University, a prestigious university of South Korea, arrived in Zhejiang for a four-day immersive cultural study tour. Faculty and students from the Korean Language program of our School of Humanity and Foreign Languages provided comprehensive translation and reception services throughout the visit. Their solid linguistic proficiency and professional dedication ensured smooth communication, fully demonstrating the program’s role as a bridge in international exchanges. On January 7, the delegation visited our Yangxunqiao Campus, where lively interactions between students from both sides immediately created a strong bond of camaraderie.

First Stop: Reflecting on the Past to Enlighten the Future, Understanding the “Shuren” Spirit
The first stop of the visit was our university’s History Museum. Guided by Ms. Zhou Min, the faculty and students from Dongguk University gained a deep understanding of our university’s “Shuren” spirit, its scale of operations, awards and achievements of faculty and students, and Party-building efforts. The award-winning architectural models on display in the museum drew keen interest from the Korean students, who expressed great admiration for our university’s development.

Second Stop: Enjoying the Enduring Charm of Tea, Experiencing Oriental Aesthetics
Following this, Ms. Yuan Wei, from the program of International Chinese Tea Culture, presented a tea culture feast to the delegation. She systematically traced the history of Chinese tea culture from the Tang and Song dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties, and then guided the guests through the complete process of the tea ceremony, from performing the ritual to observing the tea’s color, smelling its aroma, and tasting its flavor. The Korean students enthusiastically prepared Chinese tea themselves, their faces beaming with delight and curiosity.

Third Stop: Dialogue at the School, Charting Future Cooperation
The exchange symposium became the highlight of the visit. Attendees included Won Jonghee, Director of the Student Development Office at Dongguk University, and Pei Deheng, General Manager of Qingdao Shunlin International Trading Co., Ltd., along with Professor Li Jianliang, Dean of our School, and Party Committee Secretary Zhao Rui. Dean Li Jianliang shared his connections with South Korea, which resonated with the guests. Representatives from both universities spoke freely, with the Korean side stating that the gains far exceeded expectations, while students from our Korean Language program shared their practical insights.

At the conclusion of the event, our school presented certificates to the study tour delegation and extended a sincere invitation for future visits. This exchange highlighted the talent‑training strength of our Korean Language program and laid a cultural foundation for deeper cooperation between the two universities and the youth of China and Korea. Moving forward, our university will continue to leverage its disciplinary advantages, expand international collaboration, and contribute “Shuren Strength” to global cultural exchanges.
