From July 18 to 20, the Zhejiang Provincial Contest of the 20th National College Student Intelligent Car Competition was held at Hangzhou Dianzi University. The School of Information Science and Technology of our university sent 13 teams to compete across four competition tracks of the event, achieving outstanding results with 3 First Prizes, 3 Second Prizes, 2 Third Prizes, and 3 Successful Participation Awards. Additionally, two student teams successfully advanced to the national finals. In the NXP High-Speed Optoelectronics Track, our team “Shuren Balance Team II” stood out among universities across the province, outperforming strong competitors such as Zhejiang University and Zhejiang University of Technology, and won second place in this track. As one of the top national competitions in the field of intelligent control, the National College Student Intelligent Car Competition is designed to cultivate students’ practical abilities, innovative thinking, and teamwork skills.
This achievement marks another significant breakthrough for the School of Information Science and Technology, following recent successes including the Gold Prize won by Zhang Xiangjie (Class of 2021, Computer Science and Technology) in the just-concluded Zhejiang College Student Innovation Competition, and six teams that advanced to the national finals in the Zhejiang College Student Intelligent Robot Creative Competition.
In recent years, the School of Information Science and Technology has regarded academic competitions as a key driver for enhancing both the quality of student training and the teaching and research capacity of faculty members. The School has established a “12345” innovation and entrepreneurship framework, focusing on major competitions, optimizing resource allocation, and carrying out well-organized discipline-based contests. During the summer vacation, nearly 180 students from the School stayed on campus to prepare for seven provincial-level competitions, including the Provincial Multimedia Competition and the Provincial Software Outsourcing Competition. Guided by the philosophy of “promoting learning and innovation through competitions,” this practice has been continuously strengthened. Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the School is confident that the quality of talent cultivation will reach new heights.
