Recently, the finals of the 2025 Shaoxing Youth Volunteer Service Program Competition, hosted by the Shaoxing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Shaoxing Volunteer Association, and organized by Shaoxing Vocational &Technical College, concluded successfully. After multiple rounds of selection and fierce competition, the program submitted by our university, Aesthetic Education in the Countryside: Immersive Aesthetic Education Volunteer Service for Rural Children (Guided by teachers Jin Jiahong and Yao Beilei) won a bronze award.
Since 2022, Haomo College has joined hands with the School of Art to build an aesthetic education volunteer team. In collaboration with the Shaoxing Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Party Working Committees of Qianqing Subdistrict and Yangxunqiao Subdistrict, the team has been carrying out the Aesthetic Education in the Countryside: Immersive Aesthetic Education Volunteer Service for Rural Children in provincial-level “Aesthetic Villages” such as Shuli Village and provincial-level “Calligraphy Villages” such as Qianmei Village. The program targets rural children, aiming to nurture their cultural, social, and psychological development. It comprehensively enhances children’s cultural perception, aesthetic awareness, artistic expression, and creative skills through creating “Aesthetic Appreciation” scenarios, developing “Aesthetic Education” curricula, integrating “Aesthetic Healing” arts therapy, and implementing “Creative Aesthetics” practices. The program stimulates rural vitality through aesthetic education and establishes accessible community-based aesthetic education hubs. Up to now, the program team has accumulated 3,862 volunteer service participations, totaling 18,356.6 hours of service. There are currently 185 registered members, including 20 teachers, 10 doctors, and 12 core members. The team also comprises members of the National Art Fund, masters of arts and crafts, provincial-level first-class professional teachers, students majoring in arts, academic counselors from Haomo College, cultural commissioners, and outstanding social workers of Keqiao District. The service achievements of this program have been reported by over 20 media outlets, including CCTV News Live, China Youth Daily, People’s Daily Online, Xuexi Qiangguo, Chao News, Keqiao Daily, and Hangzhou News, creating a good demonstration effect.

Our university has always placed great emphasis on cultivating the spirit of volunteer service among students, fully leveraging the educational value of volunteer service in shaping well-rounded individuals. It actively encourages students to step beyond campus, engage with society, and serve at the grassroots level, carrying out multidimensional and wide-ranging volunteer activities regularly. Through themed activities for the Youth League Day, the Western Program, social practice in summer, and other initiatives, the university has built a comprehensive volunteer service matrix and strengthened its volunteer service network. It vigorously promotes volunteer programs that are impactful, innovative, and inspiring, continuously making the “Little Sapling” volunteer service brand widely known, and inspiring young people to make contributions and show responsibility in advancing Chinese modernization.
