From May 9 to 11, the 23rd Zhejiang Provincial College Student Structural Design Competition, also known as the “Zhejiang Water Co., Ltd. Cup,” and the Zhejiang Regional Trial for the National College Student Structural Design Competition, was grandly held at Zhejiang Ocean University. The competition attracted nearly 600 teachers and students from 102 teams representing 49 universities across Zhejiang Province. Two teams from the School of Urban Construction— “Wangwang Snow Cake” and “Pioneers”—stood out through 10 hours of model construction, along with intense and thrilling on-site defense and loading sessions. In the end, both teams won First Prize and once again secured qualification for the national finals.

The delegation was led by Dean Jin Xiaoqun and Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Dean Wang Zhenhua of the School of Urban Construction, with full support and dedicated guidance from teachers Huang Jin and Shen Hua throughout the entire competition. With a spirit of innovation and determination, our university was one of the few undergraduate institutions to win two First Prizes in this year’s competition.

To date, the School of Urban Construction has won First Prize in the Zhejiang Provincial College Student Structural Design Competition and its Zhejiang Regional Trial for the National College Student Structural Design Competition for nine consecutive years. In recent years, the School has continued to align competition participation with its distinctive educational approach, integrating practical innovation and discipline-based competitions into routine management. It has vigorously promoted the use of competitions to enhance learning, teaching, reform, research, and application. By cultivating talent through competitions, students are encouraged to embrace a deep sense of national responsibility and the spirit of craftsmanship. They remain diligent and dedicated, striving for excellence in science and technology, while further strengthening their capabilities in creativity, innovation, invention, and entrepreneurship—contributing actively to the university’s efforts in advancing its master’s degree programs.
