The 8th “My Favorite Teacher” Award Ceremony Successfully Concludes
On the evening of June 6, the 8th “My Favorite Teacher” Award Ceremony commenced at the Li Changsheng Auditorium, celebrating four decades of educational excellence and tradition. University leaders Li Lu, Wang Jun, Chen Xinmin, Lu Guiqin, Chen Jun, and Feng Shujuan, along with heads of various departments and colleges, attended the event. Tens of thousands of teachers and students participated both online and offline, coming together to admire the charm and excellence of the honored teachers.
The event lasted for three months and included various stages such as specialized discussions, class-wide preliminary selections, teaching demonstrations, and a university-wide public vote. Students were actively engaged throughout the process, and the final results were based on student preferences and comprehensive evaluations, ensuring transparency and fairness. According to statistics, a total of 451 classes participated in the preliminary voting, with over 490 teachers nominated by students. In the final round of university-wide voting, 8,000 students cast their votes through the “Palm Shuren” app. With their choices and enthusiasm, Shuren students paid the highest respect to the dedicated teachers who selflessly contribute to education and student development.
President Li Lu delivered a speech at the awards ceremony. He highlighted that the university founder, Mr. Wang Jiayang, driven by the urgent need for talent and national development, took it upon himself to cultivate talent for the country. Despite facing significant challenges such as lack of funding, facilities, and teachers, he personally planted the seeds of hope on the banks of the Grand Canal. As the university celebrates its 40th anniversary, it has grown from nothing into a strong and thriving institution, achieving groundbreaking progress, particularly in faculty development. He noted that for the past 40 years, the admiration for excellent teachers across the university has inspired the faculty’s excellence and growth. The “My Favorite Teacher” award ceremony aims to promote the “Shuren Spirit” of responsibility, innovation, dedication, and selflessness exemplified by these outstanding teachers. He emphasized that as the university advances towards its goal of becoming a “distinguished university with unique characteristics,” all teachers should adhere to the four standards of a “good teacher” proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his visit to Beijing Normal University. Guided by the educational philosophy of Mr. Wang Jiayang and the spirit of Chinese educators, teachers are encouraged to remember their mission, live up to expectations, innovate, and move forward with honor. They should strive for excellent achievements in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the university’s founding and the 20th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s visit to the university.
Vice Secretary of the University Party Committee, Wang Jun, presented the “Shuren Excellent Teacher” honors to Teacher Yin Xiaomin and Teacher Miao Sen, who have been awarded the title of “My Favorite Teacher” three times or more in previous selections. This recognition acknowledges their dedication and contributions to Shuren’s educational cause.
The award ceremony was hosted by student representatives who announced the winning teachers one by one based on comprehensive rankings. The awarded teachers in sequence are: Teacher Lu Danfeng from Urban Construction College, Teacher Ye Xuewei from Shulan International Medical College, Teacher Cesare Moncelli from the School of Arts, Teacher Xu Hao from the School of Biological and Environmental Engineering, Teacher Wan Mai from the School of Management, Teacher Ma Yanyan from the School of Humanities and Foreign Languages, Teacher Yu Lizhe from the School of Information Technology, Teacher Gao Xiaoyi from the School of Biological and Environmental Engineering (Interdisciplinary Research Academy), Teacher Lin Yishuang from the School of Marxism, and Teacher Mei Shanhai from School of Jia Yang.
