Recently, the Office of the Department of Education of Zhejiang and the Office of the Economy and Information Technology Department of Zhejiang published the list for the construction of provincial-level modern industry schools with major support from Zhejiang Province in 2021. The Smart Health Care Industry School of Zhejiang Shuren University has been successfully selected as one of the first 21 provincial-level modern industry schools enjoying major support from Zhejiang Province.

The establishment of modern industry schools shows that our country guides colleges and universities to focus on the joint point with local economy and society development, break through the dependence on raditional paths, and explore effective mechanisms for connecting industrial chains, innovation chains and education chains, to establish new mechanisms for sharing information, talents, technology and material resources, improve the collaborative education mechanism of integrating industry and university, and innovate the evaluation and employment mechanism for part-time teachers from enterprises, to build a mechanism for the coordinated development of higher education and industrial clusters, and create the demonstration entities of talent training which integrate the functions of talent training, scientific research, technical innovation, enterprise service and student entrepreneurship, with the aim of providing new model that can be replicated and promoted for the construction of application-oriented universities.

According to the increasingly severe situation of aging society and the demand of health care industry, Zhejiang Shuren University established the Smart Health Care Industry School in combination with the majors of Geriatric Care Management, Nursing Science, Home Economics and   Computer Science and Technology, the characteristics of  talent training and university-enterprise cooperation achievements over the years. The Smart Health Care Industry School was developed out of Zhejiang Provincial Elderly Care and Home Economics Industry School, which was established in 2016 and reorganized and upgraded to be the Smart Health Care Industry School in December 2019 based on the long-term cooperation with Hangzhou Shulan Hospital Management Co. Ltd., Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co. Ltd., and other industrial leading enterprises.

This Industry School is not only a training base for the talents of smart health care, but also a professional development base for teachers with “both teacher qualification and engineer qualification and both teaching ability and practical ability” and an industry-university-research cooperation base for smart health care. In the future, guided by the plans on the course construction of new engineering and new liberal arts, this School will improve the industry-education integration mechanism that effectively combines the industrial chain, innovation chain and education chain based on the smart health care industry, center on the health care industry and the building of future communities to form a new-type talent training mode of the deep cooperation of governments, enterprises and universities and co-construction and sharing of high-quality resources, to create the advantageous clusters of multidisciplinary majors, and set up the sample of modern industry schools with the feature of sufficiently sharing resources and achievements, which plays a demonstration and leading role in Zhejiang and also influences the Yangtze River Delta.
