From July 9 to 10, 2026, a four-member delegation from Russian higher education institutions visited our university, including President Imran Guluyevich of the Southern University of Russia, President Tatyana Sergeevna of the Peoples’ Friendship Institute of the Caucasus Russian, President Lidia Viktorovna of Volgograd Institute of Business, and Dr. Svetlana Vasilyevna, Head of Department at the Medical School of Serbsky. During the visit, both sides focused on two principal objectives: deepening friendly inter-university exchanges between China and Russia, and advancing joint talent cultivation in information technology. The delegation also aimed to establish a long-term and sustainable mechanism for international cooperation, promote the sharing of high-quality educational resources, and support the joint development of disciplines in which both parties have distinctive strengths.

On the morning of July 9, Vice President Chen Jun met with the delegation and held a discussion meeting. Representatives of the Russian institutions introduced the educational positioning and international development plans of their respective institutions and expressed their willingness to pursue cooperation in areas such as joint disciplinary development and mutual visits by faculty members and students. During the meeting, Vice President Chen Jun and President Guluyevich signed an agreement on short-term study programs for students. Following the meeting, the delegation held in-depth discussions with representatives of the School of Information Science and Technology on short-term study programs, inter-university student exchanges and the development of a digital college. The delegation also visited the practical training facilities of the School of Information Science and Technology and the Interdisciplinary Research Academy. The visitors spoke highly of the university’s achievements in information-related disciplines and interdisciplinary innovation.

On the morning of July 10, the delegation visited Shulan International Medical College to learn about its educational philosophy, program features, and practical teaching outcomes. They subsequently attended the closing ceremony of the “China-Russia Youth Study Program on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Culture” jointly organized by our university and Southern University of Russia, expressing their hope that the program would provide a foundation for expanding cooperation into further fields.

During the visit, the Russian representatives noted that the rapid growth of the global digital industry had created considerable potential for cooperation in information technology. They expressed their expectation that both sides would promote a range of initiatives, including mutual faculty and student exchanges, joint curriculum development, and the collaborative establishment of a digital college. Vice President Chen Jun stated that the university would continue to uphold its philosophy of being open to international cooperation, deepen its engagement with Russian higher education institutions, and steadily advance the implementation of agreed cooperation initiatives.

The visit by the delegation of Russian university presidents established a practical and efficient channel of communication between Chinese and Russian institutions. Moving forward, our university will systematically sort through the consensus reached during the discussions, progressively implement joint talent cultivation programs in information technology, and continue to build a new framework for inter-university cooperation at multiple levels and across a broad range of fields.
