The 11th Zhejiang College Students’ Athletics Championships recently concluded in Dongyang, Zhejiang Province. Demonstrating determination and competitive spirit, our university’s athletic team delivered an impressive performance, winning one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
In the women’s discus final of Group A, Ye Sitong overcame slippery conditions caused by rain and the pressure of a deficit in the standings in the early rounds. On her final throw, she staged a remarkable comeback, securing the championship with a mark of 38.48 meters. The result not only earned her a successful title defense but also significantly improved the championship record of 36.16 meters previously set by herself. She also won the silver medal in the women’s shot put. Our university now holds two provincial championship records: 2.01 meters in the men’s high jump and 38.48 meters in the women’s discus.
In addition, Jiang Chang earned bronze in the women’s high jump, and Chen Jiaze placed fourth in the men’s heptathlon. These achievements were made possible by the dedicated guidance of coach Xiong Shanhu and the athletes’ sustained, scientific training day after day. The team’s performance vividly reflects the university’s commitment to fostering well-rounded development through moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor education, with physical education playing an important role in student growth. Looking ahead, our athletic team will step up preparations for high-level competitions, including the National College Students’ Athletics Championships, and strive for further success.
