On January 30, 2026, Mr. Warwick Dawson, Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Newcastle, Australia, visited the School of Information Science and Technology of our university. He was warmly received by Dean Hu Fengjun and relevant heads from the Artificial Intelligence Institute, who accompanied him throughout the exchange.
Dean Hu Fengjun extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of the school’s disciplinary structure, faculty development, and key research initiatives. He specifically highlighted the achievements in the field of artificial intelligence, including development milestones, research and development directions, international cooperation models, and the effectiveness of technology transfer. Mr. Warwick Dawson spoke highly of the school’s academic strengths and also introduced relevant disciplinary research and the global cooperation framework at The University of Newcastle, expressing a strong interest in deepening collaboration.
Following the discussion, Mr. Warwick Dawson toured the Artificial Intelligence Institute, where both parties explored potential areas for cooperation. During the visit, both parties engaged in productive talks on research collaboration and international education, reaching a preliminary consensus. Moving forward, they will focus on areas such as artificial intelligence and data science to refine cooperation plans and facilitate the implementation of joint research, student exchanges, and faculty visits, aiming for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
