On the afternoon of August 5, the following guests visited our university for communication: President Lin Qunsheng of Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Dean Wang Fuli of the School of Science and Technology, Dean Qian Zhian of the School of Education and Languages, Director Shi Xuemei of the Office of Chinese Mainland and International Affairs, Dean Kuang Zhiliang of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Dean Huang Wanxia of the School of Nursing and Health Science, Manager Li Jieling of the Office of Chinese Mainland and International Affairs, Associate Researcher Feng Hongru from Zhejiang University, and Zhang Haiyan, Dean of the Environmental Department at the Hangzhou Advanced Research Institute of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
President Li Lu, Chen Zhi, Distinguished Advisor and Executive Deputy Director of the Academic Committee, Zhou Zhaocheng, Director of the Department of Academic Development, Li Jianliang, Dean of the School of Humanities and Foreign Languages, Liu Weiping, Dean of the Interdisciplinary Research Academy Feng Zhixian, Vice President of Shulan International Medical College, Yin Shanshan, Assistant to the Dean of the Interdisciplinary Research Academy, and relevant staff from the Office for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs participated in the exchange activity. President Li Lu accompanied President Lin Qunsheng and his delegation on a tour of the campus, with a special focus on the Interdisciplinary Research Academy, followed by a discussion and exchange meeting.
During the meeting, President Li Lu outlined the university’s strategic development goals, emphasizing its focus on promoting the discipline innovation, interdisciplinary integration, and high-quality growth, driven by the advancement of new medical sciences. He highlighted the university’s strengths in leveraging cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as resource integration, to foster the interdisciplinary specialties such as medical treatment, engineering and information technology, environmental health, and medical humanities. The university is committed to developing distinctive disciplines and top-tier programs, with the aim of becoming a renowned institution known for its specialized academic excellence.
President Lin Qunsheng and his delegation expressed full recognition of our university’s progress in advancing the strategy for new medical sciences, interdisciplinary research, and the training of high-level applied talents, as well as its contributions to society through scientific research. He also showed great interest in the development strategy of the Interdisciplinary Research Academy, particularly in its collaboration with academic and industry partners. President Lin expressed his hope for further comprehensive and multi-faceted collaboration between both universities across various fields in the future.
