On the evening of March 13, "the Report Meeting on the Development of Zhejiang Shuren University" was held in Hong Kong. More than 40 attendees from Hong Kong, including Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, Secretary for Education, Mrs. Tse Ling Kit-ching, former Permanent Secretary for the Food and Health Bureau, the Civil Affairs Bureau, and the Education Bureau, Hong Kong SAR Government, Mr. Zhan Hongliang, a member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, a member of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, and the Executive Vice President of the Hong Kong Federation of Zhejiang Residents Associations, Mr. Lau Ping-cheung, Chairman of the Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services, Mr. Lee Sheung-shing, President of the Federation of Alumni Associations of Chinese Colleges and Universities in Hong Kong, and other members from the Hong Kong Federation of Zhejiang Residents Associations, Jinhua Residents Association, Ningbo Residents Association, Lishui Residents Association and Zhoushan Residents Association. The report meeting was presided over by President Li Lu.

President Li Lu introduced the development history, current situation and characteristics of the university to the attendees. He fondly recalled the selfless support and assistance of the entrepreneurs of Hong Kong and the members from Hong Kong and Macao of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPPCC since the establishment of the university, represented by Cha Chi-ming, Wang Kuancheng, Jin Yaoru, Ni Tiecheng, Shao Yanzhong, Wen Rugen, Jin Ruxin and Jin Leqi. This is also the new way that "the university relies on various kinds of social support to carry out educational undertakings", which was fully recognized by Comrade Xi Jinping, the Secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee at the time of visiting our university in 2004. President Li pointed out that the requirement of building a high-quality education system was put forward in the 20th National Congress of the CPC, and according to the people's expectations of being admitted to "good universities" in the new era, Zhejiang Shuren University would adhere to the goal of striving for the approval of the master's degree programs, improving quality and upgrading, focusing on discipline construction, and constantly improving the education quality and level. He said that there were many new challenges for the university to develop itself in the new era, and hoped that all walks of life in Hong Kong, especially the natives of Zhejiang in Hong Kong, could visit Zhejiang and their hometowns more often and continue to support the high-quality development of Zhejiang Shuren University.

In her speech, Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, the Secretary for Education of Hong Kong, welcomed President Li Lu to lead a team to visit Hong Kong and organize various introduction activities to accelerate the education cooperation between Hong Kong and the Mainland. She pointed out that the education of Hong Kong needed diversified and high quality development and the Education Bureau of Hong Kong would support Zhejiang Shuren University to cooperate with the universities in Hong Kong in talent training and scientific research, and work together for the construction of a high quality education system.

Mrs. Tse Ling Kit-ching, former Permanent Secretary of the Food and Health Bureau, the Civil Affairs Bureau, and the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government, fondly recalled the pleasant experience of working with President Li Lu in Hong Kong. She said that education was related to the development of the country and the future of the nation, which required taking one for the team to train basic-level and high quality talents for the construction of the country, and hoped that the people from all walks of life in Hong Kong who attended the meeting would concern about the development of Zhejiang and care for and support the development of Zhejiang Shuren University jointly.

Zhan Hongliang, a member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, a member of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, and the Executive Vice President of the Hong Kong Federation of Zhejiang Residents Associations, expressed his gratitude on behalf of Zhejiang residents for being invited to the report meeting. He pointed out that since its establishment in 1984, Zhejiang Shuren University had trained a new generation of talents with a sense of responsibility for the society, the concept of nation, a sense of national identity and international vision, ranking among the top private higher education institutions in China, and making himself proud to be a Zhejiang native. He said that he would constantly pay attention to the development of the university and the development trend of the industry, and believed that Zhejiang Shuren University would certainly become better and better under the leadership of President Li Lu.

During the meeting, the visitors from our university were divided into four groups, and had warm discussion and in-depth communication with other attendees.
