On April 1, 2021, Paul Kwan-sing Lam, the new Principal of The Open University of Hong Kong, took his new post and issued an open letter.
When Principal Li Lu of Zhejiang Shuren University was informed, he commissioned the Office for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs to send a congratulatory letter as soon as possible, extending sincere congratulations to President Lam on his appointment and the fact that The Open University of Hong Kong will officially change its name to "Hong Kong Metropolitan University" in September. At the same time, he hoped that the two universities will establish and strengthen cooperation and ties, and make joint efforts for youth exchanges and learning, higher education exchanges and mutual learning, as well as the integration and development of educational resources between the two places.
Principal Paul Kwan-sing Lam replied to the letter and expressed his deep feeling of working with Principal Li in Hong Kong. He also expressed his sincere pride in the impressive achievements of our school over the past 30 years and hoped that the two schools would cooperate in talent training, student exchange and scientific research.
