From July 13 to 14, a delegation led by Mao Junqi, Director of the Youth Development Department of the Cambodian International Chamber of Commerce, visited our university. Both sides held discussions on the joint establishment of a China-Cambodia Silk Road College and the cultivation of internationally oriented talents. During the visit, the delegation also signed a memorandum of understanding with the School of Economics and Management.

On the morning of July 13, Vice President Chen Jun met with the delegation and introduced our university’s application-oriented educational positioning and the achievements it has made in developing the Silk Road College. He expressed the university’s willingness to leverage the Chamber’s resources to connect with Cambodian universities and industries, and to develop cooperative programs in fields such as tourism management, modern agriculture, and cross-border e-commerce. President Li Lu also met with the delegation and received an official letter of invitation from Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia. Zhejiang Shuren University was formally invited to participate in the joint establishment of a “China-Cambodia Silk Road College” in Cambodia. Director Mao Junqi noted that Cambodia faces substantial talent shortages in areas such as hospitality and tourism, information technology, and healthcare, which align closely with our university’s academic strengths. Director Mao also invited our university to attend the inaugural “Angkor Forum” this October. Both sides exchanged views on key issues including the selection of partner institutions, joint program development, international student education, and the establishment of practical training bases, reaching broad consensus in many fields.

On the afternoon of the same day, a seminar themed “Advancing Together along the Silk Road and Integrating Industry and Education” was held. Yan Hong, Dean of the School of Economics and Management, and Mao Junqi signed a memorandum of understanding. Under the agreement, the two sides will jointly establish the “China-Cambodia Silk Road College” and create a dedicated body to coordinate degree education in China for Cambodian students. They will also promote joint program development, collaborative research, reciprocal visits by faculty and students, and the co-organization of international conferences such as the China-Cambodia Cooperation Forum and the ASEAN Economic Cooperation Forum.

This visit marked an important step in the university’s efforts to contribute to the “Belt and Road” Initiative. Moving forward, both sides will accelerate preparations for the establishment of the Silk Road College and advance the first batch of cooperative programs, including short-term study tours, degree-seeking education programs for international students, and faculty exchanges, while continuing to deepen comprehensive cooperation between China and Cambodia.
