The 6^thModern Service Industry Development Forum sponsored by Zhejiang Federation of Social Sciences and Research Center of Modern Services of Zhejiang Shuren University were held in Hangzhou on October 24, 2016. As the branch forum of “the 3^rdAcademic Annual Conference of Zhejiang Social Sciences”, the forum attracted more than 70 experts and scholars from 25 colleges and universities as well as research institutions such as Central University of Finance and Economics, East China University of Science and Technology, Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhejiang provincial Party committee College and Zhejiang Institute for Development and Reform.

With the theme of “constructing the new development pattern for the service industry during the 13^thfive-year-plan”, the participants of the forum discussed on the new information, new difficulties, new measures and the development of the service industry in Zhejiang during the “13^thfive-year-plan” period. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Chen Xinmin, vice-president of the university, and Professor Zhang Qing, secretory of the Party committee of the university, and Zheng Xinpu, secretory of the leading party group of Zhejiang Social Science Association, gave speeches on the opening ceremony. Researcher Pei Changhong, director of Institute of Economics Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Researcher Xia Jiechang, vice-dean of Institute of Economics Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Professor Zheng Shunren, vice-president of Taiwan Cheng Shiu University, gave speeches with topics ofSupply-side Structural Reform and Development of Modern Service Industry,Acting Point for Promoting the Supply-side Structural Reform of the Service Industry: based on the Perspective of Improving Weak LinksandModern High-quality Innovative Service Trend and Discussion, and other participant representatives gave speeches. The keynote speeches and the expert reports with abundant and excellent contents gave rise to great interests and reflection by participating scholars. In addition, young scholars of Taiwan and mainland were arranged to develop discussion and exchange around issues such as “service performance and development of the service industry”, “innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth” and “development of the service industry and service trades”. All participants expressed their own opinions and shared achievements, to acquire favorable academic exchange effect and form discussion conclusions with high values.

The Modern Service Industry Development Forum was held for six sessions, and the theme of each session was closely related to hot issues of the modern service industry, with innovative forms. It provided a platform for exhibition and exchange about research of problems related to service economics and management, and made special contributions in promoting development of the modern service industry. Engaged in research on modern service industry for more than 10 years, “Zhejiang Modern Service Industry Research Center” of Zhejiang Shuren University acquired cares and supports from all circles of the society, and it would strengthen features and integrated internal and external resources in later development, so as to become a new think tank for the modern service industry.
