The article entitled “On Xu Jingzong's Theories on Poetry and Prose and the Compilation of ‘Wenguan Cilin’” written by Lin Jiali and Wang Yanqing, teachers from the School of Humanity and Foreign Languages of our university was published in the 6th issue of the Journal of Zhejiang University (Humanities and Social Sciences Edition) in June 2023.
As a research achievement in the field of extra-territorial Sinology, this paper was written on the literature basis of the remaining poems and proses of Xu Jingzong and the edition of Wenguan Cilin (a collection of ancient Chinese poems and writings, compiled by Xu Jingzong) copied in Japan in the early 9th century. The authors not only study the multi-dimensional transformation in the early Tang Dynasty, but also express the importance of written literature works of the Tang Dynasty in the cultural circle of Chinese characters in East Asia. This paper is also the exploration and practice of the scholars engaged in humanities and social science of our university on the important topics of the cultural inheritance and the continuation of cultural context.
It is reported that Prof. Lin Jiali and Teacher Wang Yanqing have long been engaged in the study of literature of the pre-Qin period, the Western the Eastern Han Dynasties, the Wei, Jin, Northern and Southern Dynasties, and the Sui and Tang Dynasties. And their fields of study have been extended from the local to the extraterritorial areas. The paper is a milestone achievement of the key program of the National Social Science Foundation - “A Study on the Edition of the Wenguan Cilin Copied in Japan in the Early 9th Century”, chaired by Prof. Lin Jiali. The program was completed in February of this year, and a series of papers have been also published in CSSCI and first-class journals.
