On April 16, Mr. Ho Iat Seng, the fifth Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, visited Zhejiang Shuren University along with his wife and delegation. He was warmly received by President Li Lu, Vice Party Secretary Wang Jun, Vice President Chen Jun, Assistant to the President Feng Shujuan, and heads of relevant departments. The delegation was also accompanied by Mr. Shi Huifang, Secretary of the Shaoxing Municipal Party Committee, Mr. Ma Guocan, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Shaoxing Municipal People’s Congress and Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee, Mr. Yuan Jian, Secretary of the Keqiao District Committee, and other officials.

On behalf of all faculty and students, President Li Lu extended a warm welcome to Mr. Ho on his fifth visit to the university. He expressed hopes that this visit would further strengthen cooperation between Macao and the university in areas such as talent cultivation and academic research, contributing to Zhejiang’s initiative of “taking the lead and writing a new chapter.”

Mr. Ho Iat Seng fondly recalled the historical connection dating back to the 1980s when he assisted his father, Mr. Ho Tin, in the establishment of Zhejiang Shuren. He held in-depth discussions on mechanisms for educational cooperation and talent development models between Macao and the mainland, and fully recognized the university’s positioning in cultivating application-oriented talents and serving local industry development. Mr. Ho emphasized the importance of deepening educational cooperation, encouraging universities in Macao to work hand in hand with their mainland counterparts. He welcomed faculty and students of Shuren to conduct academic exchanges in Hengqin and pursue further studies in Macao, envisioning a new model of collaboration under “Macao + Hengqin” to enrich the great practice of “One Country, Two Systems.” He pledged continued support for the high-quality development of Zhejiang Shuren University and extended his best wishes for its continued success and greater achievements.
