Ms. Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor Revisited Our University and Unveiled the Yang Wing-man Natatorium

On April 26, Ms. Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, the fifth Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, revisited our Yangshunqiao Campus to inspect the construction of the university and unveiled the Yang Wing-man Natatorium. Our President Li Lu, Zhang Qing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Vice President Ye Shiping, and more than 100 teachers and students warmly welcomed the visitors.

Ms. Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor and President Li Lu unveiled the Yang Wing-man Natatorium together with other leaders. Ms. Lam accepted the certificate of donation on behalf of Ms. Yang Wing-man and delivered a speech. The “Yang Wing-man Natatorium” was named in appreciation of Ms. Yang’s good deeds.

Ms. Lam Cheng Yuet-Ngor met the teachers and students of Shuren University again in the flowery April and sent her best wishes for the celebration of the founding of the university. She said that she and Ms. Yang had always adhered to the philosophy that “education is about nurturing talents” and had spent a lot of time visiting universities on the mainland and had enjoyed communicating with the young people on the mainland. She pointed out that the country was committed to developing Hong Kong into an international center of science, technology and innovation, which entails the study and work of students of the mainland in Hongkong. Zhejiang Shuren University has been maintaining friendly cooperative relations with Hong Kong and Macao, and has trained a large number of application-oriented talents over the past 40 years. She hoped that the university would adhere to the spirit of “nurturing talents with moral integrity", and expected more outstanding students of Shuren to develop in Hong Kong and help Hong Kong integrate into the overall development of the country.

Li Lu extended a warm welcome to Ms. Lam Cheng Yuet-Ngor for her second visit and thanked Ms. Yang Wing-man for her generosity and the leaders of all parties for their continuous care and assistance to the university. In his speech, he recalled the development history of Shuren University over the past 40 years of cooperating and developing together with the partners of Hong Kong and Macao. In recent years, Shuren University and various sectors in Hong Kong have even strengthened the cooperation with each other, achieving fruitful results in talent training, discipline innovation and scientific research successively.

Before the unveiling ceremony, Ms. Lam Cheng Yuet-Ngor and other visitors also watched the Swimming Competition of the 31st Sports Meeting of our university and presented awards to the winning athletes. She also visited the Ho Tin Library and the Mingzhe Academy, tasted the “Qianjiangyuan Tea King” and other kinds of specialty tea, and encouraged the students of Shuren University to inherit and spread the excellent traditional Chinese culture, and to study hard to contribute more to the prosperity of our country.
