The preparatory meeting about pilot units for medical assistant training by Zhejiang Healthcare Commission was held in Zhejiang Medical Technology Education Development Center in the morning of October 29. The meeting was held by Zhejiang Medical Technology Education Development Center and our university. Vice presidents as well as directors and experts of Department of Nursing of hospitals such as Zhejiang Provincial People’s Hospital, Zhejiang Hospital, Zhejiang Second People’s Hospital, Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital and Shulan International Hospital attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Zhang Qifeng, a division head of the Medical Education Center.
It was proposed in the meeting to accelerate the medical assistant training, to meet the demands on social development, which was an important content in the “14th five-year” plan for development of Zhejiang healthcare industry. At present, recruitment, training and teacher resources of medical assistants are key problems to be solved urgently. Experts agreed that it was necessary to strengthen the top-level design for training of medical assistants, and clarify to orient medical assistants as a new type of occupation or upgrade existing in-service staffs, and clarify rights and obligations of competent departments, training institutions, medical institutes and employers. It was suggested to strengthen theindustry access threshold from the supply end, and medical assistant companies are required to provide only the personnel with related practicing certificates, to avoid clinical risks; it is suggested to include medical assistants into the list of occupational skill promotion subsidy, and relieve burdens of training objects in training expenses.
