At the midday of September 28, the School of Jiayang (comprising the School of Foundation Studies and the School of International Education) hosted the “First Class of the New Term” and the activity of “Celebrating National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival” for its international freshmen enrolled in 2025. the leadership team of the school, teachers and students from the international student management team, along with over 20 international students from countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, gathered to celebrate the upcoming dual festivals. Together, they experienced the charm of traditional Chinese culture through cultural exchange.

The activity was hosted by Vice Dean Zhao Beibei, who, in her welcoming remarks, encouraged the international students to turn their study-abroad experience into a valuable asset for personal growth. She emphasized that Shuren University was not merely a platform for language learning but also a window to understanding Chinese civilization. Dean Hu Jianwei reviewed the university’s achievements in international education and expressed his hope that the international students would become “excellent students in class and China hands in life”, pledging comprehensive support for them.

Subsequently, Lecturer Liu Zhigang vividly recounted the myths of “Hou Yi Shooting the Suns” and “Chang’e Flying to the Moon”, captivating the international students. Feng Shujuan, Assistant to the President, together with other faculty members, distributed mooncakes and fruits, explaining the profound symbolism of Mid-Autumn reunion through the “beauty of harmony” embodied by red bean paste mooncakes and the concept of “harmony in diversity” represented by the five-nut mooncakes. The international students expressed their gratitude in Chinese, and the warm atmosphere dispelled any initial feelings of unfamiliarity in a new land. Lecturer Xiang Lingling then organized the students to handwrite blessing cards. Although their Chinese expressions were not fluent, simple yet heartfelt phrases like “academic progress” and “physical health” conveyed sincere emotions.

In the future, the school will continue to build the brand of “Studying Abroad at Shuren”, building a “bridge of culture” through immersive cultural activities. Through this activity, international students not only tasted the sweetness of mooncakes but also felt the warmth of Chinese culture. The university hopes that they will become future storytellers of China and young envoys of China-foreign friendship, jointly writing a new chapter of mutual learning among civilizations.
