From August 1 to 5, 2022, the 14th National Medical Experimental Teaching Seminar, sponsored by the Basic Medical Group of National Experimental Teaching Demonstrating Center Association, was held in Haikou, Hainan Province. The themes of the seminar included the first-class course construction; the ideological and political education in medical courses; establishment of innovative experimental teaching system; new medical courses; the training of innovative talents", and the experts attended the meeting to exchange the achievements of teaching reform and presented unusually brilliant contents. The Competition on the Presentation of Design Proposals of Basic-Clinical Medicine Integrated Virtual Interactive Teaching Cases (VIC) was held concurrently during this seminar. The research program Neonatal Respiratory Distress Syndrome -- From Basic Medicine to Clinical Medicine led by Dr. Ye Xuewei from the Teaching and Research Office of Basic Medicine of Shulan International Medical College won the first prize of case design presentation.

It was learned that there were totally more than 500 backbone teachers from over 100 medical colleges and universities in China attending the conference. The teaching team of Ye Xuewei finally stood out from more than 100 competitors after fierce competition such as early screening, open reply, and presentation. In the finals, on behalf of the team (Chen Junyao, Xu Xiaoling, Du Lailing, Dong Yeping, Wu Ou, and Wei Siming et al), Dr. Ye Xuewei from the Teaching and Research Office of Basic Medicine of Shulan International Medical College elaborated the innovative measures and implementation process of the interactive teaching of virtual simulation in teaching respiratory system from the aspects of solving the difficulties in organ-system teaching and integrating teaching characteristics, and received praise from all the expert judges.
