On November 14, Dr. Lee Yun-gyu, President of Kyonggi University in South Korea, led a delegation to visit our university. The two universities held talks at the Yangxunqiao Campus and signed a cooperation agreement. Together, they inaugurated the China-Korea Economic Development Research Institute and the China-Korea Economic Development Forum—Yuehu Forum, marking the entry of cooperation between the two universities into a phase of substantive advancement.

The meeting was attended by our university’s President Li Lu, Wan Guowei, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Lu Yin, Director of the Office of Scientific Research, and leaders from several schools. President Li Lu extended a warm welcome to President Lee Yun-gyu and his delegation. He introduced our university’s development history, disciplinary layout, and achievements in internationalization, emphasizing its deep integration with local industries in fields such as the digital economy and modern services. President Li Lu noted that Kyonggi University has achieved remarkable results in interdisciplinary education, internationalization, and disciplines such as arts and AI computer engineering, laying a solid foundation for the broad prospects of cooperation between the two universities.

President Lee Yun-gyu introduced the educational philosophy and developmental strengths of Kyonggi University in detail. Since its founding in 1947, the university has adhered to the principles of “pursuing truth, embracing self-love, and promoting national strength”, establishing a global network of partnerships with 300 universities across 40 countries. It has particularly developed a distinctive approach in arts education. In line with the development needs of both universities, President Lee proposed three cooperative initiatives: jointly establishing the “Shuren Forum”, co-building the “Digital Economy Research Institute”, and promoting Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Education Programs.

In the presence of all guests, the two presidents signed the inter-university cooperation agreement. President Li Lu presented President Lee Yun-gyu with the university-level honorary professorship certificate, and both sides inaugurated the collaborative platforms and exchanged commemorative gifts. During the discussion, both parties discussed the proposed cooperation initiatives in depth, reaching multiple consensuses on details of Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Education Programs, the establishment of academic exchange mechanisms, joint teaching and research in arts programs, scientific cooperation in the digital economy, and short-term student exchanges.

This visit marks the first high-level delegation from Kyonggi University to our university. Previously, the two universities had already established a solid cooperative foundation by jointly organizing the China-Korea Economic Development Forum and sharing academic resources. The signing of the cooperation agreement and the inauguration of the collaborative platforms will further deepen all-round cooperation between the two universities in disciplinary development, scholarly research, and talent cultivation, injecting new momentum into exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Korean higher education institutions.
