From November 7 to November 8, President Lin Qunsheng of Hong Kong Metropolitan University and Director Shi Xuemei of the Office of Chinese Mainland and International Affairs visited our university and attended the 40th Anniversary and High-Quality Development Conference.
The visit commenced on the afternoon of November 7, where President Li Lu, Party Secretary Zhang Qing, and Executive Deputy Director Chen Zhi of the Academic Committee engaged in a productive dialogue with President Lin and his delegation. The meeting was further enriched by the presence of Wang Yun, Director of the Office for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs, and Yan Hong, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce.
President Li Lu warmly welcomed President Lin and his team. Reflecting on the university's journey from its humble beginnings to its current standing as a national benchmark for private education, he emphasized that this milestone is a testament to the collective efforts of countless individuals and the invaluable support from sister institutions. President Li expressed hope that this anniversary would serve as a catalyst for deepening friendship and expanding collaboration between the two universities, ultimately contributing to the advancement of higher education.
In response, President Lin conveyed heartfelt congratulations on the 40th anniversary celebration. Noting that Hong Kong Metropolitan University had recently celebrated its own 35th anniversary, he highlighted the significance of such milestones as reflections on past achievements and visions for future growth. He expressed his aspiration for Zhejiang Shuren University to continue nurturing exceptional talent for the nation and to shine as a distinguished private institution in the higher education landscape. He also extended an invitation for Shuren's faculty and students to engage in exchanges and learning opportunities at Hong Kong Metropolitan University.
The discussions further explored themes related to the construction of applied universities and the cultivation of healthcare management talents, leading to a preliminary agreement on collaborative initiatives for a joint Master's program in Nursing.
During their visit, President Lin and his delegation participated in the "2024 Cross-Strait and Hong Kong-Macao Private Education Research Alliance Expansion Conference," hosted by Zhejiang Shuren University. This forum offered a platform for exchanging insights on the development and innovation of private universities within the context of high-quality education.
