Appreciation of the porcelains from the Official Kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty—The School of Art Held the “Stone from Other Mountains” Academic Lecture Series of Experts and Master Teachers
At 13:40 on March 12th, the twelfth lecture of the “Stone from Other Mountains” Academic Lecture Series of Experts and Master Teachers of the School of Art of Zhejiang Shuren University was held in the Academic Lecture Hall of Yangshunqiao Campus. In this lecture, the School invited Mr. Hua Yunong, Discoverer of the Site of Xiuneisi Official Kiln in the Southern Song Dynasty, Discoverer of the Site of Longquan Official Kiln in Chuzhou in Ming Dynasty, Member of the Zhejiang Committee of Cultural Relics Authentication, and President of Hangzhou Association for Ancient Capital Culture Research.
Mr. Hua Yunong introduced the development history and the wrong understanding of the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty, the auction market, and the key points of identification of the porcelains from the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Mr. Hua Yunong listed six misconceptions about the porcelains from the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Mr. Hua collected information on the starting and transaction price of 62 pieces of porcelains from the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty (including those identified as the porcelains from Ge Kiln) auctioned by major auction companies in the world since 1983 and introduced the auction prices of the porcelains from the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Mr. Hua Yunong believed that in the collection of porcelains, people should pursue “truth, kindness and beauty”, and the identification and appreciation of the porcelains from the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty should be made from 20 specific aspects. He vividly explains the porcelains one by one by combining pictures and words.
Mr. Hua has the academic spirit of making continuous progress based on his dedicated studies. He proposed the idea of “doing one thing seriously for a lifetime”, as the mutual encouragement with our teachers and students.
Finally, Mr. Hua Yunong showed a lot of porcelain specimens from the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty and communicated with teachers and students. All the attendees communicated with Mr. Hua warmly and actively. Many students said that they were very excited to have a close look and the opportunity to touch the porcelains from the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty. Mr. Hua’s lecture aroused their interest in the porcelains from the official kilns of the Southern Song Dynasty, and they had a strong sense of national pride and belonging to the traditional Chinese skills and the culture of the Song Dynasty.
