From March 22 to 26, the 15th National Structure Design Contest for College Students was held in Taiyuan University of Technology in Shanxi Province. Nearly 700 teachers and students of 111 teams from 110 universities across the country gathered here.
The team of our university won the first prize again in a fierce competition against many other prestigious universities such as Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Harbin Institute of Technology. This is the fifth time that our university has won this national award consecutively since 2017.
The National Structure Design Contest for College Students is one of the nine major disciplinary competitions for college students in China as approved by the Ministry of Education, and is the highest level and most influential comprehensive disciplinary competition in the field of civil engineering, which is regarded as the "brightest pearl in the crown of civil engineering". Up to now, the School of Urban Construction has taken part in the national finals for five times consecutively, and won the second prize in 2017 when it participated in this contest for the first time, entered the national contest as getting the first place (grand prize winner) in the zone competition of Zhejiang Province and won the first prize in 2018, entered the national contest again as getting the second place in the provincial competition and won the first prize for a second time in 2019, and then won the second prize in 2021. The contest in 2022 was postponed to March of this year due to the epidemic, but the students from the School of Urban Construction withstood the pressure and won the first prize again.
In recent years, this school has continued to transform its scientific research advantages into the characteristics of education in combination with its school-running characteristics. By keeping original intention with utter devotion to education, the School of Urban Construction constantly trains students' innovation awareness, teamwork, and engineering practice ability, stimulates students' innovation vitality, improves the quality of talent training, and further helps the university to overcome difficulties in the application for the master’s degree programs.
