On the morning of September 28th, at the invitation of Zhu Shaozhong, Chairman of the Board and Secretary of the Party Committee of Sanda University, and Chen Yiyi, President of Sanda University, our President Li Lu attended the 30th Anniversary Ceremony of Sanda University and expressed warm congratulations on the 30th Anniversary of Sanda University on behalf of our teachers and students. Our colleagues in charge of the Office of the University, the office of academic affairs, the School of Information Science and Technology and the School of Art accompanied our president to attend the ceremony.

In the afternoon, President Li Lu was invited to attend the "Forum on High-Quality Development of Application-oriented Private Universities in the Context of Industry-Education Integration" and gave a report on the university practice with the title of "Through Integration, Combination and Cooperation, Focusing on Cultivating High-Quality, Interdisciplinary and Application-oriented Talents". He communicated and promoted consensus with the senior experts and scholars in higher education from the National Advisory Council on Education, Beijing Normal University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the presidents of universities such as Feng Chia University and Shih Hsin University, the advisory experts in significant administrative decision-making of the Shanghai Municipal Government, and the representatives of university and enterprise cooperation partners such as Huawei Technologies and China Construction Bank on the concept and experience of high-quality development of the application-oriented private universities and deepening the integration of industry and education in depth and extensively.

In his report, President Li Lu, on behalf of our university, extended his most sincere congratulations to Sanda University on its 30th anniversary, and briefly introduced on our university's development and the exploration and practice of cross disciplines for training high quality composite talents in recent years. He pointed out, over the past 38 years since its establishment, Shuren University has been adhering to the original intention of "fostering virtue through education", insisting on the construction of application-oriented disciplines as the lead, the construction of application-oriented majors as the focus, the construction of industry schools as the carrier, the service for social needs as the guide, closely meeting with the needs of local industrial development, exploring and implementing the innovative path of systematically promoting the construction of application-oriented model university, and realizing the primary goal of "a famous university that is non-government funded". He said that, over the past 38 years, Shuren University has taken the initiative to integrate into the overall economic and social development of our country and Zhejiang Province, taking the path of running a university with special features and high quality. In recent years, our university has focused on the integration of industry and education, cultivated applied talents by taking industry schools as the platform; payed attention to cross disciplines and integration of disciplines, and promoted the integrated construction of disciplines, majors and talent training; laid emphasis on the combination of courses and contests, created the first-class “gold medal” undergraduate courses, and put effort into training high-quality, interdisciplinary and application-oriented talents. He also emphasized that, at present, the development of higher education in China was facing the profound changes and trends unseen in a century. As one of the first batch of application-oriented universities built as pilot demonstrations in Zhejiang Province, our university will adhere to the orientation of running a application-oriented university, implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and adopt new ideas, new initiatives and new paths to continuously improve the training quality of interdisciplinary and application-oriented talents, and contribute Shuren University's wisdom and strength to the construction of a powerful country in education and the high-quality regional economic and social development. In the end, he extended a sincere invitation to the experts and guests on the forum, hoping that they would come to Shuren University to guide our work, to "take the pulse and prescribe" for the university's quality improvement and upgrading and the construction of the "famous university that is non-government funded", and wished Sanda University a successful 30th anniversary celebration and an early establishment of "the most attractive private university in the Yangtze River Delta region".
