Recently, the Department of Chemistry of the School of Biology and Environmental Engineering of ZJSRU won prizes again in the 12^th “Sinopharm • Oubeier Cup” Chemistry Competition for College Students of Zhejiang Province. The team “Crazy for Chemistry” composed of Wang Yutao, Qiao Enjun, Gao Kangjun and Shen Yiyao and led by the teachers Shen Chao and Xu Hao won the first prize, and the team “Boron Carbon Aluminum Sulphur” composed of Bao Miaoyi, Chen Zhiwei, Lv Xin and Shen Yi led by the teachers Wu Huizhen and Zheng Kai won the third prize. All these prizes sufficiently show the solid specialized knowledge, strong practical application ability and good teamwork spirit of the students of our university, as well as the obvious achievements of theoretical and practical teaching reform of the Department of Chemistry.

The 12^th “Sinopharm • Oubeier Cup” Chemistry Competition for College Students of Zhejiang Province was held in Hangzhou Normal University this time. The theme of the competition was “Preparation and Selective Oxidation Research on Mesoporous-loaded Composite Metal Oxide Catalysts”, which required participants to complete the design of experimental scheme, experimental operation and writing of research reports by closely combining the theoretical knowledge of chemistry with the knowledge of chemical experiments, experiment skills and innovation ability through written examinations and analogue simulation within just 2 weeks from July 7^th to 24^th. The theme of the competition was mainly about chemistry and its interdisciplinary issues, with the aim of comprehensively training students to discover, ask, analyze, solve and interpret the results, cultivating their innovative spirit and practical ability, and contributing to the education and teaching reform in the professional field.

The Chemistry Competition for College Students of Zhejiang Province is guided by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, hosted by the Teaching Steering Committee for Chemistry and Chemical Pharmaceuticals in Zhejiang Higher Education Institutions and the Zhejiang Chemical Society, and has been held for 12 consecutive years. Since its start in April 2021, this competition has attracted 528 teams from 35 colleges and universities across the province to sign up for the competition, of which 359 teams submitted valid works and 87 representative teams entered the finals. In consideration of the impact of the new corona-virus epidemic, the finals were conducted in the form of online reply.
