In order to further strengthen national defense consciousness and national defense concept of teachers and students, and advocate the spirit of patriotism, our university invited Zhang Xudong,Vice Chairman of Hangzhou Federation of Social Science and Vice President of Academy of Social Sciences, to make a special speech about national defense education in Gongchen Bridge Campus and Yangxun Bridge Campus in the evening of October 31 and October 1. Wang Jun, Deputy Secretary of CPC, and Feng Shujuan, assistant to the President, hosted the report meeting of the Gongchen Bridge Campus and the Yangxun Bridge Campus. Related principals of CPC Publicity Department and Security Department of the university as well as representatives of students of 2021 attended the meeting.

With the theme of Be Prepared, Forge ahead for National Defense, Vice President Zhang Xudong gave a splendid and vivid lesson of national defense education for teachers and students of our university. In combination of his experience, he reviewed the modern history and the coastal defense history in our country and introduced China national defense construction modernization development as well as challenges and response of air and maritime safety in our country.

With a long-run perspective and rich contents, the report explained profound theories in simple language, with guiding significance for teachers and students in our country to understand national defense situations and national defense safety in a comprehensive and accurate way and establish the national defense concept of being prepared.

Wang Jun, Deputy Secretary of CPC, and Feng Shujuan, the assistant to the President, pointed in the summarizing speech that the report was not only a lesson of national defense education but also a lesson of quality education and political education; in addition, it was a lesson of practice and experience. Students were expected to strengthen national defense awareness and strengthen ideological exercise, and work hard with practice and innovation, to make contributions to a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

In addition, they conducted in-depth exchange about strengthening national defense education and improving national defense awareness of college students.
