On the afternoon of July 20th, Zhejiang Shuren University held the Second Leading Group’s Meeting of Global Opening-Up Schooling in Xixi Hotel. President Li Lu and Party Secretary Zhang Qing attended this meeting. Other directors who attended the meeting included the heads of President Office, Human Resources Office, Discipline Office, Scientific Research Office, Academic Affairs Office, Students Affairs Office, International Affairs Office and Security Office, as well as the heads of each college and research institutes. The meeting was chaired by President Li Lu. Gu Jianxin, the Deputy Director of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office; Gao Zhengrong, the Vice President of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, and Lan Jingjing, the Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Provincial Department of Education, were also invited to give special reports at the meeting.

Zhang Qing first delivered a speech on behalf of the university, who pointed out that strengthening Zhejiang Shuren University’s Global Opening-Up Schooling was not only an important method to implement the university’s "14th Five-Year" plan and realize internationalization school-running goals, but also our university’s significant approach to achieve quality improvement and upgrade based on the guidance of discipline development. Moreover, this meeting offers both ways of learning and discussing, which is also an expert demonstration seminar of our university’s Opening-Up Schooling programs. It is necessary for us to unify thinking, clarify responsibilities, as well as to focus on work priorities and tasks, in order to add more brilliance to the realization of the "14th Five-Year Plan" foreign exchanges and cooperation programs.

At the meeting, Gu Jianxin, the Deputy Director of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office; Gao Zhengrong, the Vice President of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, as well as Lan Jingjing, the Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of Provincial Department of Education, gave their special speeches respectively. Lan Jingjing summarized the processes of educational programs of Global Opening-Up during the “13th Five-Year Plan” in Zhejiang province, and she also analyzed the current situation of the Global Opening-Up in education. Significantly, Lan focused on interpreting the prospects and the reflection of the Global Opening-Up in education in Zhejiang during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, who also provides approaches and methods for our university’s Global Opening-Up Schooling Programs in education during Zhejiang Province’s “14th Five-Year Plan”. Adopting the "Five As" Principle, which is the working principle of the university’s education internationalization: "University as the leading, college as the main body, academic as the theme, scholars as the main force, and students as the protagonist", as well as the "Integration of the Three ‘Internationalized’", that is, “Optimizing the internationalization of the schooling environment, implementing the internationalized quality enhancement projects, and strengthening the internationalized school-running capabilities”, Gao Zhengrong shared these paths and experiences that Zhejiang Sci-Tech University has explored to improve its internationalization level. Starting from the in-depth study and implementation of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech, Gu Jianxin focused on the main line of the high-quality development of foreign affairs work: from the international connotation of education to the development of the international situation, from serving the country’s major foreign affairs to the development of foreign affairs in our province, and from the management structure of university’s foreign affairs to the international characteristic of schooling. Gu has clarified the direction for our university’s “14th Five-Year Plan” Global Opening-Up Schooling’s high quality development.

After listening to the reports, heads of schools and departments provided suggestions and recommendations on the schools' and university's "14th Five-Year Plan" foreign exchange and cooperation programs.

Finally, Li Lu summarized the meeting. He stated that all units should be required to implement the strategies , guidelines and policies of national global opening-up development, and accurately grasp the mission and tasks of the opening-up work in the new era, as well as seriously consider about how to achieve internationalization and give full play to Shuren University’s distinctive characteristics. As for the Discipline Office and Scientific Research Office, they should cooperate well with the China-Belarus Research Center and do a good job relating to the existing Belarusian research center and other platforms. Speaking of the think tank research, it should support the strategic policies of the "Belt and Road Initiative" countries, and support the construction of the Great Stone. For the enrollment of international students, the process ought to take advantage of the disciplinary support of Health Care and Home Economics, and actively promote the construction of the China-Philippines Home Economics School and the Silk Road School. Li also pointed out that, internationalization indicators need to be implemented in each school, centering on the characteristics of the university and its schools. In addition, the deans of each school should give full play to their own advantages in international resources, integrate internal and external resources, strengthen the linkage of various units, and realize the high-quality connotative development of school education opening-up to the global world. Li Lu suggested that the leading group’s meeting of Global Opening-Up Schooling should be set as a monthly dean’s salon, to build a new pattern of the two-level university/school international schooling.

At the meeting, Zhang Qing also presided over the launch ceremony of the university’s English website. The launch of the English website will become an important window for our university’s international communication and publicity, and will build a solid foundation for accelerating the progress of our university’s internationalization.
