On May 24, the 3rd Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference on Information Technology & Telecommunications, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Agriculture (hereinafter referred to as the “Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference”) was held in Hangzhou. Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech. Chen Jun, Vice President of the University, together with Wan Guowei, Director of the Office of International Affairs, and Wu Ronglan, Deputy Director of the Office, was invited to attend the conference. The university delegation achieved fruitful results, successfully signing an inter-university cooperation agreement with the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore (UET Lahore), and conducting special cooperation negotiations with representatives from multiple Pakistani universities and enterprises, thereby further advancing the university’s internationalization process.

Focusing on cutting-edge fields such as information technology, new energy storage, and modern agriculture, the conference serves as an important platform for deepening industry-university-research collaboration between China and Pakistan and promoting coordinated economic and educational development. It brought together representatives from numerous universities, enterprises, and industry associations from both countries, building a high-quality bridge for resource sharing and mutual complementarity.

At the signing ceremony, witnessed by the Pakistani Ambassador to China and other distinguished guests, our university formally signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore (UET Lahore). UET Lahore is a prestigious engineering university in Pakistan with strong academic foundations in information technology, engineering, and related fields. The agreement marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between the two universities. Moving forward, the two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, academic collaboration, joint research, and the cultivation of internationally oriented talent, thereby contributing to enhanced educational connectivity and people-to-people exchanges between China and Pakistan.

During the conference, the university delegation actively engaged in outreach and negotiation activities, holding in-depth discussions with Mr. Assadullah Khan, Executive Director of Rifah International University and Rifah Medical Services Center, and Mr. Siddiqua Rana, General Manager of Pakistan Technical Cooperation and Development Corporation. Both parties conducted detailed exchanges on key areas such as medical education, information technology applications, the commercialization of industry-university-research achievements, and international student education in China. They precisely clarified and matched cooperation priorities and reached a series of preliminary consensus, laying a solid foundation for subsequent substantive collaboration.

This participation in the conference and the signing of the cooperation agreement represent important practices by the university in fulfilling its philosophy of internationalized education and advancing international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. The university will continue to expand its international cooperation landscape, leveraging its disciplinary strengths and educational advantages to deepen multi-level, broad-based pragmatic cooperation with Pakistani universities and enterprises. Through educational exchanges, it will boost China-Pakistan friendly cooperation and continuously enhance the university’s international influence.
