From May 10 to 14, as one of the designated reception institutions appointed by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, our university successfully completed the full reception, coordination, and exchange program for the delegation led by Vaine Mac Mokoroa, Minister of Education of the Cook Islands.

On May 13, Minister Mokoroa and his delegation visited the Gongchenqiao Campus of our university for inspection and exchange activities. President Li Lu and representatives from relevant departments warmly received and met with the delegation. President Li introduced that our university, founded in 1984 with the support of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was among the first private colleges and universities in China. Adhering to the principles of being run by social forces, non-profit-oriented, and open to the world, the university has forged a distinctive path of high-quality development for private colleges and universities. He expressed our university’s expectation to strengthen cooperation with the Cook Islands in fields including education, science and technology, and youth exchanges, to promote mutual learning and exchanges among faculty members and students.

Minister Mokoroa spoke highly of the educational model and achievements in disciplinary development of our university. He expressed hope that both sides would further deepen cooperation in education, science and technology, and cultural exchange, and establish closer partnerships in scientific and technological innovation.

During the visit, the delegation toured Ho Tin Library, the Medicine Engineering and Information Research Institute, the Key Laboratory of Artificial Organs and Computational Medicine, the Translational Medicine Research Institute, and the Interdisciplinary Research Academy. The guests gained in-depth insight into our university’s interdisciplinary research system and internationalized educational philosophy and expressed high appreciation for our university’s achievements.

This reception task represented an important practice for our university in serving China’s broader strategy of educational opening-up and fulfilling Zhejiang Province’s international reception responsibilities. It also laid a solid foundation for deeper cooperation with Pacific Island countries in areas such as digital education, talent cultivation, and scientific research innovation.
